The Coronavirus is undoubtedly the only topic that is being talked about these days, and it is not uncommon for misinformation to spread rapidly. Because of misinformation, people can sometimes take the wrong measures when it comes to their pets. We want to share information from The World Health Organization, who has already shared a statement saying there is no scientific evidence that animals can transmit or spread Covid-19 disease among humans.
This does not mean that you should neglect the sanitation of your pets and their toys or places where there is constant contact. There must be a cleaning and disinfection protocol that will avoid the spread of the virus or bacteria and fungi that may coexist.
It is important to note that the feline Coronavirus and the one that affects dogs is genetically different from the virus in humans. In them is SARS-COV.2. This virus cannot be transmitted to humans; there is not even a contagion between animals, making it harmless.
What measures should I take with my pet during quarantine?
As general measures, we recommend washing your hands after having contact with your pets and not touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
We also recommend disinfecting the spaces where your pet plays and properly cleaning the space after your dog comes from a walk in the park. We recommend that you also take precautions and thoroughly clean the place where your pet decides to do his physiological needs.
Governments that have taken preventive quarantine policies will allow short walks to those who have pets where they should avoid contact with other people or pets. As a last measure, we recommend that you prioritize the times with the least influx of people; in this way, you can further prevent the spread of the virus.
For this reason, we recommend that you follow the health protocols for both you and your pet so that you both can have a calm and safe quarantine.
